Transfer of teachers suspended

teachersThe Ministry of Education has suspended with immediate effect, the transfer of all categories of teaching and non-teaching staff across the country.

Sector Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, who disclosed this last Saturday said a number of teachers have applied to be transferred from their stations to mostly urban areas but said that cannot be granted. However, he said those with special reasons should seek permission from the education service.

Addressing the New Patriotic Party executives of the Manhyia South constituency, Dr Opoku Prempeh said granting such transfers would not good for the educational system, aside the financial issues. He did not say when the embargo on transfers of teachers and non-teaching staff under the ministry would be lifted.
