Jubilee house girl suspended

The Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, has finally cracked the whip on one Dr Louise Carol Serwaa Donkor, a presidential staffer who made disparaging remarks about foot-soldiers of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Ms Donkor, a Policy and Communication Analyst at one of the wings of the Office of the President, posted a comment on Facebook earlier which caused her the debacle.

Her friend, Felicity Nelson posted on Facebook that “As a general rule, I don’t engage party foot-soldiers.”

Commenting on her friend’s post, Carol stated “you shouldn’t. You can’t reason with them. It’s like tribalist.”

Her comments were instantly condemned by mostly members of the governing NPP and even members of the opposition who felt insulted since they considered themselves party foot-soldiers.

In a letter dated June 12, 2018 and addressed to Eugene Owusu, the Special Advisor to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under whom Carol works, the Chief of Staff indicated that “these comments sought to disparage a section of the Ghanaian society, a conduct which is unacceptable to this office.”

She consequently directed Mr Owusu to suspend the lady from office for a period of 30 days beginning today, June 13, 2018.

Carol has been asked also to render an unconditional apology in writing and commit to good behaviour.

Many people, who took exception to the statement of the lady, heaved sigh of relief, as they rushed to Facebook to commend the decision of the Chief of Staff.
