213 Suspected criminals arrested in Sekondi-Takoradi

On Thursday 12th September, 2019, a total of 213 suspected criminals were arrested at European Town and Albert Bosomtwi-Sam Fishing Harbour at Sekondi in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The swoop which was done at dawn of 12th September by joint security agencies in the Western Region rounded up 194 males and 19 females,

Dubbed ‘Operation Calm Life,’ a total of 400 security personnel embarked on this operation.

According to ACP Edmund Ohene Bosompem who spoke to the media, the operation is in line with the recent kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, drug-related crimes and other crimes in the Metropolis.

One Airforce helicopter, one naval ship, two naval boats and one marine police boat were used in the operation.

Some herbs suspected to be Indian hemp were retrieved, as well as narcotics laced toffees, pills suspected to be tramadol, narcotics laced alcoholic beverages and eight television sets.

Other things retrieved include five laptops, two decoders, gaming equipment, condoms and a cash sum of GHc 23, 997.50.

The suspects will be screened and those found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the laws of Ghana.

ACP Edmund Ohene Bosompem appealed to the general public to volunteer credible information to the police to help fight crime.

The Police mention that, this is a nationwide swoop that they are embarking on simultaneously.
