At a press briefing at the Ministry of Information on May 26, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Aboagye, made it known that Sekondi-Takoradi and Tarkwa in the Western Region are the new hotspots for Covid-19 Infection in Ghana.
At the briefing, Dr. Aboagye made it known that the towns recorded 57 out of the 156 new confirmed cases which have shot up the case count to 6,964 as of May 26.
The Greater Accra Region recorded 72 new cases while the Central Region recorded 23 new cases.
The Volta Region recorded 10 new cases while the Ashanti Region recorded four new cases.
According to Dr Aboagye, a team will be sent to the affected towns to help mitigate the spread of the infection.
He also indicated that there has been no case of Covid-19 reinfection in Ghana.
Ghana’s number of Covid-19 recoveries is now 2,097 with 32 deaths.
