2024 Election: Voter apathy caused NPP’s defeat – Justin Kodua

The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua, says the NPP’s loss in the 2024 December election was primarily due to voter apathy across the country.

Speaking on the outcome of the election during Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen show on Tuesday, January 14, Mr Kodua said, “The apathy in the party was unprecedented.”

He added, “There’s nothing that can convince me that something else happened. Our people just refused to come out to vote.”

The NPP lost the December 7 polls to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which had been in opposition for the past eight years.

Following the defeat, theNPP has begun urging its members, particularly the youth, to refrain from unfriendly propaganda and focus on rebuilding the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
