‘I’m disappointed’ – Mzbel over Mahama appointments snub

Singer, Mzbel has expressed disappointment for not being offered any appointment yet by the government despite her arduous efforts for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win power.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, March 4, she disclosed that she is likely to decline any appointment in order to protect her peace and reputation from public scrutiny, however considering her sacrifices that helped the NDC achieve power, Mzbel says she would have felt honored and valued if the appointing authority had approached her.

“The truth is that I will turn down an offer of appointment should the President even call because I want peace of mind. I don’t want anyone to equate my success to politics because I work very hard.”

“For instance, should I travel for even my own show, they will say ‘she is travelling with taxpayers’ money. Politics has made her and this and that.”

“However, I’m disappointed that some of my colleagues have been given appointments while I’ve not even been called. Considering the fact that I’ve really been bullied, insulted and even threatened because of NDC so it’s disappointing that with the party in power now, Mzbel has been forgotten and no one has bothered to even get in touch with me,” she lamented.

“Anyway, I don’t even know how these appointments are being done. Maybe, people submit their resumes or make calls to some influential people to lobby for them but at least a call to make an offer wouldn’t be bad,” she added.

The singer in the last years have been vociferous about her affiliation with the ruling NDC and have campaigned for the party during elections.

She has actively been involved in activities directed at seeking power for the NDC, including a group she led, celebrities for Mahama, to campaign and canvass for votes for the party.

With the party in power, Mzbel disclosed to Graphic Showbiz that pressure has been mounting on her to lobby for jobs and appointments for members of the group.

However, she revealed that she is currently in a difficult situation since the few prominent party leaders she was in contact with have distanced themselves and stopped returning her calls.

Additionally, she is not able to meet them as they are equally absent from the locations where she has previously encountered them.
