20th Feb: President Mahama to present State of the Nation address on Tuesday

6c49de6b51f1fbd4bfe21a9e343d7491_LThe President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, will deliver his State of the Nation Address on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 instead of  tomorrow, Thursday, February 20, 2014.

The Leader of the Majority, Dr Benjamin Bewa-Nyog Kunbuor, who stated this in Parliament Thursday, said the postponement was due to “unforseen circumstances.”

He declined to elaborate but when pressed by the Leader of the Minority, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, to explain to the House what those “unforseen circumstances” were , he said the postponement was to enable the House “to put certain things in order.”

Currently the lift that leads to the chamber is out of order and has been in that state for about one week.

Some parts of the walls of the chamber building have lost their brilliance of colour, and as yesterday, some painters were seen busily at work.
