“If A Show Is Not Paying, You Won’t Find Me On it; I don’t Do Just Any Show” Mzbel

Known in her school records as Belinda Nana Akua Amoah, Mzbel has been one female Artist in Ghana who has stayed unassailable till date. From the days of ‘Awosome’, ‘16 years’, ‘E they be’ and other hits she released yesteryears; her name needs no further description.

Prime Fm 89.1 on 19th May, 2012 ‘detained’ Nana Akua (Mzbel) for an hour in its studio. The charge for the detainment was to probe her into her celebrity life. The astute Radio Presenter, Pasino, using his position as the host of the Local Chat Show grilled Mzbel with barrage questions.

The mother of two, Mzbel, pointed out that, she is a very proud mother who is convenient with combining motherhood and her work, something she has developed experience with, an answer she gave to Pasino’s question of how easy is her work and motherhood. According to her, she attends Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of her children and helps them in their school assignments among other responsibilities of a mother.

In her opinion, her work is a business which should pay for her hard work and so she treats it as such. “You see you don’t see me most a times on all these billboards for shows. If a show is not paying, you won’t find me on it; I don’t do just any show”, the Awosome banger said.

“You drive in a Jaguar which is about $35,000, you must be rich”, Pasino, in his inquisitiveness asked Mzbel. Nana Akua (Mzbel) who clarified that, “but any musician in Ghana can afford it” added that, “if you don’t spend anyhow, you would have enough to purchase whatever you want as a musician because they earn from their work”.

Mzbel, in her thin piercing laughter received appraisals with great joy from her fans via phone calls into the show. She clarified that, “I’m not arrogant” upon a caller’s enquiry.
