Sekondi-Takoradi CNC Directors react to 233times.net story – “CNC is always kept clean”

The Centre for National Culture (CNC) Director Mr. Benyamin Keeleson together with his deputy Rev. Ebo Kesseh have reacted to a story carried by www.233times.net on September 4, 2018 with the headline ‘PHOTOS: Sekondi-Takoradi CNC now rubbish dump and den for criminals.’

According to the Directors, that is not the true reflection of the CNC. Rev. Ebo Kesseh said “The picture that you took was on a Sunday and on Saturday we had a programme over here and you know they closed late in the evening and workers could not work on the place to clear the rubbish and on Sundays too you know we don’t come to work so early Monday morning, we have some of our workers who start work as early as 7 am so early Monday morning they came to work on the place so we were surprised to have seen the story but all the same let me say it wasn’t the real situation.”

“It is not a normal spectacle here were you will come and find rubbish scattered around the place, the place is always kept clean” Rev. Ebo Kesseh, the Deputy Director for CNC added.

Asked if it is true that the Centre is rented to a church for service every Sunday, Mr. Keeleson said “It is not true. But even if it is, religion is part of culture but it is not true that we rent it to a church for constant church activity. We rent it out to the general public so if anyone wants the place we will rent it out to the person.

“It used to be rented out to a church but not anymore. Winners Chapel International used to have their church here. As we are speaking the church is owing us and they are refusing to pay their indebtedness. Come and pay you don’t want to pay” Rev. Kesseh revealed.

One of the reasons why the edifice which sits on a 21 acre land is rarely used is because of the deplorable nature of the road that leads to the place. “There is enormous benefits that we could get from this place if we put it to use like we want it to. It’s a cultural center, we have different aspects of culture; we have people who do drama, dance, visual arts, people who are in the support services like the carpentry so we have the technical people around. They are very creative” Mr. Keeleson said.
